Trusting God Through The Fog

Today I was sitting in the passenger seat driving down the highway with my mom and grandparents. It was a pretty clear and crisp morning and then all of a sudden we drove through a patch of really thick fog. I looked out the window and saw how the fog seemed to cover the tress and grass we drove pass, it was hard to see, I don’t know if I’ve ever actually walked through fog that thick but I imagine it would be really difficult to see what’s ahead.

This made me think about how sometimes we come to a place in our lives where it’s hard to see. God has placed a fog over our lives and during this time it becomes even more vital that we trust Him. Maybe God instructed you to leave your job or take a pay cut and you’re not sure what’s going to happen next, maybe He told you to move to a different city or state where you have no family, friends or connections and you’re not sure why. Whatever situation you’re in that makes you feel like it’s hard to see, I want to encourage you today to be patient and trust in His timing.

As I looked out the window a few scriptures came to mind.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11NIV)

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9 NIV)

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. (Psalm 32:8 NIV)

All of these scriptures show how much the Father wants to guide us, He will always teach us what the best path to take is, but we have to be willing to follow and pursue Him relentlessly. This doesn’t mean it will be a perfect and painless journey, but we should take comfort in the fact that He will walk with us and guide us every step of the way.

So you see, you may be going through a time where you aren’t sure what’s coming next, and sometimes God doesn’t give us the entire picture because if we’re honest with ourselves we know that we might try and rush ahead of Him, because with the world practically at our fingertips with smartphones we’ve become a generation of instant gratification. But just like as this day goes on that fog will lift and the trees and grass will be visible again, God will begin to show you where He is taking you and what He wants you to do. We just have to truly trust Him and allow Him to take us by the hand and lead us through the fog. Keep your heart and mind focused on Him!

Sincerely, Rhapsody
